We ask ourselves why are we cycling the great HUGE hills of the islands in the heat of the summer, for the Cycle of Life Tour?
We have personally and professionally witnessed the peace and tranquility that hospice volunteers offer to people in their last days and moments here in our presence. We have seen the quiet support that hospice brings to both families and friends, as their loved ones die. We have observed the calmness at the bedside that comes with the presence of a hospice volunteer simply sitting with a patient. We have experienced the support knowing that our loved one was not alone when we could not be with Kelly-Ann and Cynthia's father, Bill, throughout his last struggle. We are thankful for the options that hospice provides for patients and families and friends in supporting death and dying. We are cycling those great HUGE hills for hospice, in order to help the organization grow to make the supports we experienced as Dad died, available for all who choose it. Dad's 3 year struggle with dementia was far harder then those great HUGE hills on a hot summer day. It's the least we can do, on the second anniversary of Dads passing.
Thank you for supporting us on the Cycle of Life Tour. All donations to our team will benefit Salt Spring Island Hospice. Your contribution is greatly appreciated!
