On July 18th & 19th, I will be riding nearly 200 kms to raise funds for hospice care on Vancouver Island. There will be 125 riders from up and down the island. The two day ride takes us from Victoria to Saltspring, around Saltspring, and back to Victoria. Being very overweight, and with two knee replacements, I understand that this will be a huge challenge! But I began training and losing weight a few months ago, and feel confident that I will achieve my goal.
I am doing this for a cause I believe in. Each year Vancouver Island hospices provide end-of-life palliative care, counseling, and at-home care to over 12,000 patients of all ages, including children. They also provide bereavement support for their family members. Despite the value of these services, none are fully funded by the health care system. The care and comfort they provide is only possible because of the generous support of the community.
I’ve promised to personally raise at least $1,000 to help keep Vancouver Island hospice care in motion, But I hope to raise much more. Every donation, no matter what the size, will make a big difference and those donating $20 or more will receive a tax-receipt. Simply click on "donate now" to make your donation today! If you prefer to donate by cheque or cash, contact me and I will arrange to meet you.
