2019 Fundraising with Margaret
2019 Fundraising with Margaret

Wow 2020 has sure turned out to be a year of challenges and changes for everyone.  The one thing that remains the same is that wonderful charities like Comox Valley Hospice need our help, now more than ever.  The demand on hospice's island wide remains strong but the decline in fundraising so far this year will definitely take its toll on them.  I will continue to do my best to support Comox Valley Hospice in anyway I can.

For the 2020 Cycle of life tour I will take on the "2020 Challenge" and commit to riding at least 200km between July 1st and July 20th. During the 2019 Cycle of Life Tour I fundraised and rode in honour of my father who spent his final weeks under the most amazing care of Comox Valley Hospice at the Views.  Again in 2020 I will ride 200km in honour of him but I will also ride in honour and recognition of my beautiful friend and fellow 2019 Cycle of Life Tour rider Margaret.  Margaret peacefully left us on May 28th.  Myself, team Cyclepaths, and the entire Comox Valley community feel the immense loss of her smile, her spirit, her enthusiasm, and the dedication and determination, that will always be uniquely hers.  When Margaret was with you, encouraging you, it was immpossible not to feel bigger, stronger, and faster.  I am completely honoured and grateful that she shared part of her life with me.

My Father and Margaret were different people. They came from different generations.  They had different ethnic backgrounds. They had different religious beliefs. They were different sizes. A male. A female. They had different marital statuses. They grew up in different countries.  Their skin was a different colour.  They both asked for, and required, different hospice care, and that's exactly what they both received. Comox Valley Hospice is "committed to supporting each person in the care that matters most to them"

I will proudly ride in Margaret's honour (with my dad watching over) this year and will proudly donation $200, $1 for evey kilometre, in her honour.

What can you do to help you ask? Well let me tell you.... you can take the "2020 pledge challenge".  Please help Comox Valley Hospice by donating to my Cycle of Life Tour Ride using the numbers 2 0 2 0 in any order. $2 $20 $22 $200 $202 $220 $2000 $2020 :)

Thank you so much for your support.
