Welcome to My Personal Page
On July 20th & 21st, I will be riding nearly 200km to raise funds for hospice care on Vancouver Island.
It’s a cause I believe in. Vancouver Island hospices provide end-of-life palliative care, counseling, bereavement support, and at-home care to over 12,000 patients and family members each year. Despite the value of their services, none are fully funded by the health care system. The care and comfort they provide is only possible because of generous community support.
In the last year I have had 2 very dear people leave this world all too soon, Roy Edquist and Laurie Young. The care and support that they, and their families, received was amazing. While our hearts are broken it is a great comfort to know that their last days were comfortable and with the people they loved. Something that would not have been possible without the help of Hospice.
Now some of you might be wondering, how is that Marlene going to bike for 200km? An ambitious training schedule and weighloss program. On that note, I am also committing to lose 40lbs by the start date in July, which will really help with those big hills :-)
I’ve promised to raise at least $1,000 to help keep Vancouver Island hospice care in motion, but I need your support.
Every donation, no matter what the size, will make a big difference and you will receive a tax-receipt. Simply click on the donate now to make your donation today!
