Amber June Tackles Cycle Of Life For The 3rd Time !
On July 20th & 21st, I will be riding in my THIRD Cycle Of Life Tour. Some of you may remember this is where I cycle 200km starting in Victoria into the Cowichan Valley over to Salt Spring ending back in Victoria. Physically I know I can do it ( I think ) but I continue to do this ride to raise awareness of what hospice is, to honour all of the people who have had a experience at a Hospice or for someone to remember a loved one they have lost.
I have been a nurse for 8 years now and the majority of my bedside nursing has been at a Hospice. Its the nursing I continue to practice to honour what I love doing but also because I seem to connect with family and patients in a deeper level going through my own journey of losing my mom when I was 28 years old. Its events like these I can honour my Mom and think of her every pedal of the way. Its events like these that make me feel like my mom would be proud of me and thats what keeps me going even though I am absolutely exhausted. My mom was someone who always fought and worked hard for things she loved and believed in and this is something I believe in and something I know supports so many families going through one of the most vulnerable times in their lives.
Vancouver Island hospices provide end-of-life palliative care, counselling, bereavement support, and at-home care to over 12,000 patients and family members each year. Despite the value of their services, none are fully funded by the health care system. The care and comfort they provide is only possible because of generous community support.
I’ve promised to raise at least $3,000 to help keep Vancouver Island hospice care in motion, but I NEED YOUR SUPPORT.
Every donation, no matter what the size, will make a big difference and you will receive a tax-receipt. Simply click on the donate now to make your donation today!
My husband Derek is also signed up for the event, we will be planning some fundraising events for the comox valley region so please keep a eye out for those.
Thank you over and over and over again.. ANYTHING you can give will help the final outcome of this ride. Its truly an amazing event and I feel SO fortunate to be a participate.
